Advancing Development at Spaceport Nova Scotia and Enabling Canada's Leadership in the Global Space Economy

As the global space economy accelerates, reaching $596 billion last year and projected to surpass $1 trillion by 2040, Canada has a narrow yet crucial opportunity to solidify its role as a leader in this growth. At Maritime Launch, we are fostering domestic and international partnerships necessary to secure that future in Nova Scotia.

Design and construction activities are continuing at our Dover Road site, where we are preparing to host a satellite data downlink ground station for Leaf Space. This milestone marks a growing demand for ground-based infrastructure at Spaceport Nova Scotia, with additional interest from other clients under negotiation.

The urgency to establish a sovereign launch capability is increasing. In today’s unpredictable geopolitical climate, Maritime Launch is experiencing a significant rise in interest from global launch providers seeking a stable and reliable location for their launch activities. Our geographic advantage and the readiness of Spaceport Nova Scotia make this site a highly attractive option. We continue to host clients in Nova Scotia to showcase the full range of offerings from the site and our province, including advanced manufacturing, logistics, universities, talent, and access to the desired orbital inclinations at Spaceport Nova Scotia.

We are advancing preparations to conduct multiple suborbital launches in the fall of 2025. This mission from our spaceport facility will build on our first successful launch and is expected to breach the Karman line, achieve hypersonic velocities, and continue supporting team development, including government and stakeholder integration. This campaign will validate the rollout of our DART (Dedicated Acceleration Research and Test) program in response to our clients' cited needs for this capability. These launches fit our plans to work towards our first orbital launch campaign, projected for mid-2026, by honing and growing our launch team. Stay tuned for more details on our launch partners, which are coming soon!

As part of our infrastructure planning, our business model reflects a commitment to integrating modern rocketry practices, including containerized launch platforms, into our Nova Scotia launch site. These mobile and modular systems significantly reduce the environmental impact of spaceport operations by minimizing the need for large permanent structures. This approach aligns with our sustainability goals and ensures we remain adaptable as launch technologies evolve. Look to see design and construction activities pick up this Fall with a focus on our clients’ needs and the needs of the end-user satellite customers. Stay tuned for more details on the design and construction priorities from our fully licensed and approved site.

As Canada’s new government, led by Prime Minister Carney, advances a reinvigorated agenda in Ottawa, Maritime Launch will work alongside officials to advance Spaceport Nova Scotia as an example of the next generation of nation-building projects that strengthen economic resilience and sovereignty.

Establishing sovereign launch capability is a technological milestone and a strategic necessity in an increasingly uncertain world. Prime Minister Carney recently emphasized that Canada must invest in projects that build long-term capacity and security. Spaceport Nova Scotia exemplifies this approach. Launch from Nova Scotia is a dual-use technology that connects Canadian innovation to global markets, supports our NATO allies through secure access to orbit, and anchors new industrial activity in rural Nova Scotia.

Canada, particularly Maritime Launch, possesses the talent, terrain, and technological expertise to take the lead in the new space economy as the country's only sovereign launch site. By fostering domestic innovation, addressing the needs of allied nations and commercial partners, and creating economic growth and employment for our region, we can ensure dependable, cost-effective access to orbit.

Spaceport Nova Scotia delivers a competitive edge that can propel the Canadian space industry forward, attract investment, fuel job creation, and position our country as a leader in the global space marketplace.

Maritime Launch is proud to be at the forefront of building Canada’s launch capability, creating the infrastructure, partnerships, and momentum needed to ensure that our nation doesn’t just participate in the future of space, but leads it.
